Some celebrities go through their entire careers without getting into scandals, while others are destined to be caught in them all the time. No matter how much they avoid it, drama or any other problems may catch up to them eventually….

In this article we will be covering the details of the upcoming short film The Lost Cause: The Clara Florence story.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

First things first, the character of Clara Florence is just one person that is made up of Amy wine house, Lady Gaga and Duffy. She’s a stylish and loves to party all the time, and seems to have a troubled past and present. Clara also has a drug addiction that includes a cocaine fueled past.

As for the title of the short film, “Lost Cause” meaning that no one is able to help anymore, not even she can help herself at this point. And has already been in so many scandals, that it makes it impossible to resurrect her dead career. Hence, fades into the oblivion.

THE MESSAGE:

For this short film, Director Ashley Nicole wants to make it clear that Just because someone happens to be famous and rich, doesn’t necessarily mean that their mental health and well being doesn’t matter. Because it does, just like everyone else’s.

“I’ve seen a lot of people on social media who say things like “oh he or she has money they’ll live, when that’s not even the point, people act like they care about mental health but when it’s somebody very well known it’s not important or doesn’t matter.

No matter you social status, or how much money you make. It doesn’t make your problems less. We all matter regardless, we’re all human.”

Another thing that this short film will focus on, will be how the media exploits the most personal and private struggles that celebrities go through, for people to read and see.

“Michael Jackson for example, the media took a very sweet and caring man and turned him into a circus freak…”

“Not to mention all the accusations that affected him mentally, and still to this day he is the target.” Says Nicole.

In this article, we will be discussing what the short film cannibals of suburbia will be about, and what it means. First off! Trigger warning to those who have dealt with abuse or have dealt with an abusive household.

Cannibals of suburbia, focuses on a family of three brothers who live with their father Edward, who has been feeding them human flesh and has also been using his sons especially Danny who is the oldest, to do his dirty work and to help provide “dinner” for the week.

Let’s talk about Edward for a moment, judging by the stills below. We can clearly see a filthy trash filled living room along with dirty crusty dishes that haven’t been cleaned in a few weeks. This is because, Edward symbolizes what depression is.

He is also addicted to smoking cigarettes which help keep him calm during the day and help him cope with the state of his life that he is currently living.

Now let’s talk about Andrew, one of the middle children of the family. Andrew represents paranoia, fear. He is the one that tries to keep everything at bay. In other words he is a mediator.

But at the same time, he is facing his own issues with depression but unlike his father he is unable to cope with everything around him and often considers the alternative.

The last two brothers are Danny and James, Danny takes after his father and looks up to him as a role model unfortunately, and not for the good things. He tends to want to please his father by making him proud when he brings home corpses. And even feeds off the praise he gets from Edward.

But at times when he doesn’t succeed, Edward evidently puts the blame on him for everything wrong in his life and with the family.

As for James however, who wants nothing to do with his family or his father, and wishes for a better life somewhere else without them. He’s the lost child, who Edward also sees as a threat since he’s everything he’s not or wishes he could’ve been.

Not to mention, since James takes no interest in what he does and how he does it to get dinner on the table, he ultimately excludes him from certain nights out that yes you guessed it, involve killing.

And finally, Ms. Grant who is the neighbor from next door. Edward doesn’t like her very much and there’s a reason for that, she’s a good person who has a fair enough well adjusted life going for her. In this gray world of theirs, she symbolizes warmth, love and safety especially for James.

And even serves as a mother figure for him at times.

Before we end the article, let’s talk about the gray world in this short film. The obvious reason for it being gray and gloomy in the first place, is because that’s how James sees the entire world. He hasn’t received love or compassion from his father since he’s was baby, and isn’t going to anytime soon.

In this article, we are going to be diving into the symbolism of this 4 minute short film. First of all let’s jump right in to it by examining the house. A seemingly Normal looking home from the outside, but on the inside turns out to be something far more sinister than just your average haunted house.

For example the window that looks like an eye, refers to the paranoia that the character Emily feels on a daily basis, which is why it’s the main focus in this short film.

Next up, the house of course! Which clearly represents Emily’s mind and the horrors that lurk within its walls. And the people within these walls? Inner turmoil.

The third thing we will be looking into will be that disturbing corpse that pops out of the walls of her room towards the end, it represents how she sees herself, as a horrible person, so horrible that it even terrifies her when she looks at it. The only way for her to avoid seeing this however, is her medication.

And lastly, the voices on the phone symbolize her most disturbing thoughts.
